why does my face feel tight after showering

If you have a shower and your face almost always feels tight and maybe noticeably redder, then read on to see what you can do about it.

The tightness and redness is a result of the hot water and also any products you use in the shower, stripping away some of the skins protective oil, commonly known as sebum. You might also hear sebum referred to as lipids... its the same thing.

The sebum is what helps protect your face from excess water loss and also day to day environmental damage.

So whether you start off with skin that's already naturally lacking in oils, or if you're lucky and your skin is always pretty normal, taking a hot shower can be damaging to all skin types.
